1. The platform

JustBe Platform Ltd ("we", "us") is a company registered in England and Wales, Company No. 17225014. We operate JustBe — an online platform that helps schools, charities, and other organisations find volunteers, and helps volunteers discover meaningful opportunities. By creating an account or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use JustBe. By registering you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Volunteer responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information on your profile and applications.
  • Honour commitments you make when you accept a volunteering role.
  • Withdraw promptly if you can no longer attend so the organisation can fill the spot.
  • Comply with any safeguarding requirements set by the organisation you volunteer for, including DBS checks where required.
  • Treat staff, other volunteers, and the people you serve with respect.

4. Organisation responsibilities

  • Post accurate, lawful, and good-faith volunteer opportunities.
  • Review applications fairly and respond in reasonable time.
  • Run any background checks (including DBS) required for the role. JustBe Platform Ltd does not perform DBS checks on volunteers and does not verify their suitability for safeguarding-sensitive roles. Responsibility for safer recruitment rests entirely with the organisation.
  • Comply with all applicable safeguarding, employment, and data protection law.
  • Only share information about volunteers with people who have a legitimate need to know.

5. School verification

Organisations registering as schools are verified against the UK Government's Get Information About Schools (GIAS) register using the URN provided at sign-up. A successful verification confirms that the school exists in the GIAS register; it does not confirm that the person registering has authority to act on behalf of the school. Volunteers should still apply their own judgement when applying.

6. Communities and join codes

Organisations may create private communities and share join codes with their members. Anyone with a valid join code can join the community. Organisations are responsible for controlling who they share codes with.

7. Prohibited use

You must not:

  • Use the platform to harass, harm, or deceive others.
  • Misrepresent yourself or the organisation you act for.
  • Post opportunities that are unlawful, discriminatory, or unsafe.
  • Scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the platform.
  • Use the platform for any commercial purpose other than recruiting volunteers.

8. Content

You retain ownership of content you post (profile text, opportunity descriptions, messages). You grant JustBe Platform Ltd a limited licence to host and display that content as needed to operate the service.

9. Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if we suspect fraud, or if we are required to by law. You may close your account at any time.

10. No warranty

The platform is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it working but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the service will meet every requirement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, JustBe Platform Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform, including losses caused by interactions with other users or the conduct of volunteers and organisations matched through the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. JustBe Platform Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales under Company No. 17225014.
